Utter Nonsense

By Grant Murakami

Silent, the moon dances across the sky
The envious sun drowns out the soft moonlight
A thousand dim stars wish the sun to die
The gentle moon waits patiently for night

The sun takes its throne, ascending its path
The gleeful animals come out and praise
They worship the light while fearing its wrath
They frolick and play, they know it won't stay

Then slowly, the sun lifts its sad tired head
Kingship and power is not what it wants
Departs for the edge of the world instead
So out come the moon and its thousand haunts

With a smile on my face will I go hence
For all I have said is but utter nonsense
